A good sleep – recipe for the health.

As it was reported in the Journal of the American Association (Stroke), dedicated to cardiovascular disease, postmenopausal women sleeping at night more than 9 hours, increased risk of ischemic stroke.
For women, sleeping more than 9 o’clock at night, the risk of ischemic stroke at 60-70% higher than women, which spend for the night sleeping less than 7 hours, believes the author of the study Jiu-Chiuan Chen, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Epidemiology of the Medical School of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Scientists also found that among women who had rest at night less than 6 hours, the risk of ischemic stroke by 14% more than those who slept more than 7 hours. At least 6 hours have slept almost twice as many participants as compared with women, rest at night more than 9 hours. The results of this study are true only for postmenopausal women and could not be applied to other groups of patients, including young women and men. Women in the postmenopausal period aged 50-79 years are more sensitive to disruption of sleep than others.

In other major studies, scientists analyzed the impact of sleep duration on the development of coronary heart disease and stroke. There have been conflicting results, since researchers didn’t take into consideration many important factors, including age of participants, race, depression, physical work, income levels, high blood pressure, cholesterol concentration, diabetes and obstructive sleep apnea throughout. But even after taking into account all these factors, the duration of sleep has expressed influence on the development of coronary heart disease and stroke.
